Six Foot Diameter, Round Ceiling Units, Kansas City Municipal Auditorium

The Challenge:  Our challenge was to renovate six ceiling units, approximately 6' in diameter with flat glass on the bottom and 5" long, 1" diameter glass rods on the sides.  The units had been renovated many years ago to convert them from incandescent lamping to T-12 fluorescent.  Over the years, the glass has become broken and not replaced, the units were dirty and the fixtures had paint on them from sloppy maintenance.

Damaged Glass in Unit

The Solution:  We assisted in removal of the units from the ceiling and packaged the glass for transport.  At the factory the units were relamped using six 32 watt T-8 lamps.  All the metal components were thoroughly cleaned and restored to their original condition, and all broken glass items were replaced, including glass rods as well as patterned glass from the bottom.
